BEFORE DIGGING, call your local utilities to identify the location of any underground utilities.

These plants do not require a very big hole, but if your ground is hard, loosen it up as much as possible so the roots will have easy access to grow.

Faster growing than Leyland Cypress, the Carolina Sapphire adds 3' to 5' per year and will reach a height around 40 feet. Bluish in color and extremely aromatic. MURRAY CYPRESS

We came across the Murray Cypress tree about 10 years ago when it was called 'Ovensii.' It has only recently been re-named.

Thuja Green Giant

Green Giant (Thuja x 'Green Giant'), 1998 winner of The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's Gold Medal Plant Award, grows to 40 feet with a broad pyramidal habit. Thuja Green Giant is deer-resistant, fast growing, aromatic, and is used for wind breaks, Christmas trees, or as a distinctive specimen. Its growth habits are similar to Leylands. Once established, expect about 3 feet of growth per year. Thuja Green Giants do great in the South, but have a farther reach North than Leylands. Zone 5 - 9. They tend to bronze a bit in the winter, but green back beautifully in the Spring. More here
